Are you mesmerized by makeup?
Shimmery eyeshadows and pink blushes are alluring.
But if you have problems with acne, allergies, or other irregularities – it is better not to use it.
Consumer Research Institute evaluators compared eleven makeup sets for children labeled as toys.
They found that they contain mineral oils, dangerous dyes, allergens, and other ingredients that can irritate your skin.
None of them, therefore, should be labeled as child-friendly.

Using some makeup can harm the environment.
The problematic ingredient is glitter.
It is made of aluminum and plastic which are microplastics. These are small pieces of plastic that cannot be broken down.
Microplastics are the silent, yet most dangerous, pollutants of the planet.
They harm the environment, organisms, and our health.
Microplastics are not just glitter. There is also microplastic in makeup that is added for volume or better sensory properties – they way it looks, smells, etc. You can find this in shower products, toothpastes, scrubs, and makeup.
The European Commission has already issued a regulation that gradually prohibits the sale of glitter products.
This should prevent the future release of approximately half a million tons of microplastics into the environment.
Also previously, certain products were banned for single use.

Giving up the use of glitter requires effort from you, but you can help to improve the problems with microplastics and affect the health and appearance of the skin.
I’m a fan of glitter and shiny makeup textures, but I realize that taking care of the environment is more important than expressing a style or an artistic streak. I strongly support the regulation banning the sale of microplastics.
Nika Veger, makeup artist and blogger
There are more environmentally friendly alternatives to plastic glitter, emphasizes Nika Veger.
These may include shiny bits of cornstarch or onion skin. These are biodegradable glitters that will keep your makeup sparkling.
At the same time, it is kinder to nature.
Points to Consider
- Do you use any cosmetics with glitter?
- Do you have skin problems?
- Which cosmetics do you use?
