May has begun and with it – the European Month of the Brain!
The brain is the most complex and amazing organ in our body.
Slovenia celebrates Brain Day on March 13 – the same time they raise awareness about caring for overall health.
These habits are especially important for children because the brain continues to develop until you are 25 years old.
Sleep strengthens the brain. It is best to sleep in a quiet, dark, and cool environment. It is not recommended to use bright screens before going to bed.
Children need sleep more than adults:
- between the ages of 6 and 13, it is recommended to sleep between 9 and 11 hours, and
- between the ages of 14 and 17, between 8 and 10 hours.
Likewise, SiNAPSA emphasizes that you can’t take shortcuts when it comes to nutrition for a healthy brain.
Your diet must be varied, and you must also drink a lot of water! The fibers found in fruits and vegetables are especially important.
Good nutrition and sleep will make it easier for you to study.
Although it may not make sense to you at times, learning and studying is one of the best ways to keep your mind healthy.
In addition to mental exercise, physical exercise is also important!
Unhealthy habits, such as drinking alcohol and smoking, have serious consequences for the brain, so avoid them as much as possible.
The association has also published a Slovenian translation of the e-book, which will help you keep your brain fit.
Points to Consider
