Charles III officially becomes king after the coronation

Events related to the English royal family traditionally receive a lot of attention.

When King Charles III was crowned, not much will be different.

It was attended by many national leaders, including the Slovenian President –Nataša Pirc Musar.

2,000 guests were invited, 400 of which are young people chosen by the family. Among them was the teenager, Max Woosey, known as “the boy in the tent”. He raised money for charity by sleeping in his tent for three years.

Charles’s son Harry, who renounced his family duties, attended for a few hours, but without his wife – Meghan Markle. Their decisions upset much of the British public, so this was not such a surprise.

How did the coronation look like?

It consisted of recognition, oath, anointing, coronation, and enthronement.

The King and his wife arrived at Westminster Abbey in a state carriage. They drove back in golden one.

The Archbishop of Canterbury introduced the King, who stood next to the 700-year-old coronation chair, and the crowd chanted God Save the King!

The king then swore to respect the law and the church.

This was followed by the anointing of his hands, which was hidden from view.

He received a 17th-century orb, scepter & golden scepter, and the crown of St. Edward then with this ascended the throne.

A special emoji was designed for the coronation.

The solemn day concluded with a greeting from the new king and his wife, Camilla.

The three-day celebration included military ceremonies. Monday was a bank holiday for the British.

The band – Take That, singers – Katy Perry and Lionel Richie, and opera singer – Andrea Bocelli performed in the accompanying program.

Those in favor of abolishing the monarchy expressed their displeasure with protests.

Currently, the monarchy has the lowest support ever.

King Charles III is not as popular as Queen Elizabeth II was.

Points to Consider

  1. Do you follow the royal family?
  2. Which royal families do you know of?
  3. How do you see them – are they a relic of the past or an important tradition?
