What do old calculators, bubbles, rainbows, stuffed animals, pirates, magic, golf, African musical instruments, a Slovene singer (Adi Smolar), and the President of the Republic of Slovenia have in common?!
The 15th annual Sciencetival – a science festival in Ljubljana, Slovenia starting today!
There will be more than 100 activities for all ages until Sunday.
This year’s event will be no different from previous ones, says Miha Kos, the Director of the House of Experiments. And that is the charm of its success!
Why should we change anything? Why should it stand out from previous years? It is enough for us that it stands out from other events in being charming, quality, and engaging, explains the organizer.
Sciencetival is a wonderful event full of exciting science experiments and stories in which you, the visitor, participates. Everyone enjoys it: the House of Experiments which organises it, the experimenters and workshop participants, and the visitors. It tells us that we are doing something good and beautiful.
Miha Kos
The annual three-day event aims to stimulate curiosity and creativity as well as promote education and science.
Why is this particularly important nowadays?
Curiosity and creativity have been and will continue to be the engine of a good country and development. Only those who dare to be curious and dare to make mistakes are the ones who will one day discover something new.
Miha Kos
It’s up to us to create a safe, quality environment for making mistakes, he says. The scientist Albert Einstein said, “He who has never made a mistake has never discovered anything new,” recalls Kos.
Do you know what Einstein, a famous physicist, discovered?
And what does President Nataša Pirc Musar have to do with Sciencetival? She has become its honorary patron, so she will give a speech to open the festival today!
Glossary
